Though Meghan Markle officially became the Duchess of Sussex last year, she hasn’t forgotten her American roots. Just this week, Markle made a surprise visit to New York City to spend a bit of time with her beloved friends before the birth of her first child sometime in the spring.

While visiting New York, Meghan not only stopped by a few of her favorite spots, she also was the guest of honor at an over-the-top and wildly luxurious baby shower thrown by her close friends Serena Williams and Amal Clooney.

According to an inside source who spoke to Tatler, the baby shower took place at The Mark Hotel in its Grand Penthouse Suite. The suite, Tatler reported, goes for a whopping $75,000 a night.

The suite is the largest penthouse in the United States, measuring in at 10,000 square feet. The two-story suite also comes with five elegant bedrooms, four fireplaces, six bathrooms, and two powder rooms. Situated above Central Park, it provides guests with outstanding views from its 2,500-square-foot rooftop terrace.

Williams and Clooney reportedly chose the property after visiting several other locations around New York City.

Beyond the stellar location, the baby shower also reportedly had some of the finest food in New York City, handcrafted by The Mark Restaurant head chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten, who was also expected to be on hand to greet the women.

And, unlike a typical shower, there were likely no games played to guess Meghan’s tummy circumference. Instead, Tatler reported, the group took part in a flower arranging lesson.

According to Tatler, guests of the event likely included Jessica Mulroney, fashion designer Misha Nonoo, Serge Normant (her wedding hairstylist), publicist Celine Khavarani, and NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment Group chairman Bonnie Hammer.
