We Need to Talk About the Resemblance Between Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and Chip and Joanna Gaines
On Thursday, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry finally shared their engagement photos with the world. Needless to say, they are absolutely stunning.
In the three photos, the newly-minted royal couple look absolutely gorgeous and in love. In the first photo, Meghan can be seen leaning into her future husband, as they both sit on the steps of Windsor Castle.
In the second, the pair looks more relaxed as they cozy up to one another for a sweet hug as Meghan perfectly shows off her engagement ring.
And in the third, which came as a surprise extra from Kensington Palace, the couple is spotted in a candid moment as they stroll through the grounds of the castle, looking as elegant as ever in a ball gown and suit.
Yes, the photos are amazing, but if you're a "Fixer Upper" fan, they might look oddly familiar.
As Travel + Leisure’s own photo editor astutely pointed out, in the engagement photos Prince Harry and Meghan bear an uncanny resemblance to another pair of beloved celebrities: Chip and Joanna Gaines.
In both photos, both sets of love birds can be seen going shoulder to shoulder as they each set their smoldering eyes on the camera.
In the next snap, it looks like the prince and his future wife straight up ripped off the Gaines couple.
OK sure, so Chip and Joanna’s kingdom consists of a farmhouse in Texas, while Meghan and Harry live in a home occupied for hundreds of years by royalty and have likely never caught an episode of “Fixer Upper.” And though they're both T.V. queens and dark-haired beauties, Meghan and Joanna have very different ethnic backgrounds. Meghan's mother is African American and her father is of Dutch and Irish descent, while Joanna has Lebanese, German, and Korean roots.
But their differences aside, we’d venture to say the Gaineses are as close to royalty as the American public will ever get. You can just call them Duke and Duchess of Magnolia from now on. We’re sure they’ll love it.
