Footballer Goes on Theme Park Ride, Immediately Regrets It in Hilarious Video
There are two kinds of people at theme parks: The people with nerves of steel, and the people who are always on the verge of a panic attack.
Megan Connolly, soccer player for the Republic of Ireland National Team and student at Florida State University (FSU), is the second type of person. After going to an amusement park in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, with friends for spring break, she went on the scariest ride she’s ever been on — and posted the video for all of us to see.
Connolly wrote on Twitter, “the moment my soul left my body” (We'd recommend headphones, and keeping the volume set to low):
In the video, she and a friend are strapped into a slingshot ride — just as the seat tilts back, it’s clear Connolly starts to have some second, and maybe third, thoughts. Her friend, who apparently loved the ride, didn’t seem to help either.
“I have always wanted to do the slingshot ever since I saw it when I was on holidays with my family a few years ago,” she told the Belfast Telegraph that she had actually been planning on going on the ride for a while. “I had the chance to do it and it was like an impulse decision.”
“The moment I got strapped into the seat I absolutely freaked out,” she told the Telegraph. “This for me was like going to hell and back. You can see at the end I start smiling because I am just so relieved I am back on the ground.”
