To celebrate her 60th birthday this week, Madonna rented out a riad in Marrakech. But unlike that one house rental you may have split with friends that one time, Madonna’s holiday rental was a 28-room luxury riad near the Marrakech medina.

El Fenn is located a few minutes’ walk away from the center Djemaa el Fna square. From the roof of the riad, guests have clear views of the Koutoubia Mosque minaret and the sizzling energy of the medina below.

El Fenn is a favorite among the fashion set for its unique interiors. Although the entire place is brimming with traditional Moroccan influence, the layout is unique. El Fenn is made up of several different buildings and courtyards. Every single room has its own special flair, decorated with vintage furniture and painted in different jewel tones.

Madonna is likely staying in one of the hotel’s two plunge pool rooms (available starting at $718 per night). The brightly festooned rooms come with a private terrace, private rooftop pool, and hand-stitched camel leather floors.

The hotel also features an on-site spa, which offers a traditional Moroccan hammam and black soap scrub.

In the days leading up to her birthday, Madonna spent time enjoying the city. She browsed the wares of the souks, including an encounter with bees on fresh honey.

And wandered the “Labyrinth of the Medina during the Call to Prayer,” she wrote on Instagram.
