Jen Selter was apparently asked to leave after an altercation with a flight attendant
Selter, who posted a video on Twitter showing flight attendants from the airline telling her she would need to leave the aircraft on Saturday, took to Good Morning America on Monday to discuss the incident in detail.
The 24-year-old, famous for posting workouts and toned selfies to her nearly 12 million Instagram followers, was flying with her sister that day. She said in the interview that she was approached by five officers after standing up to stretch and open her overhead bin.
She also said the flight was delayed about two hours when she stood up and got into an altercation with a flight attendant who asked her to sit down.
“People kept coming up to me, and then all of a sudden five male officers come at me and it was really frightening," Selter said in the interview.
Selter posted multiple videos on Twitter, where she has over 1 million followers, of the incident.
American Airlines said in a statement to Travel + Leisure that Selter had been asked to leave the plane after a disagreement ensued and that the airline offered to pay for her hotel accommodations and transportation costs, which she refused.
According to airline representatives, Selter later boarded another American Airlines flight on Sunday back to New York.
“I’m not here trying to say don’t fly American,” Selter told GMA. “I just think they need to make changes within themselves and have to treat their passengers differently,” she added.
