“Harry Potter” fans can now stay in the apartment of their dreams — and they don’t even need to know any spells to get it.
Canongate Luxury Apartment, a deluxe “Harry Potter”-themed apartment located in Edinburgh, Scotland, with a master bedroom that is decorated just like a Gryffindor dormitory, including a four-poster bed with a top that gives the illusion of floating candles, gilded mirrors, old (presumably magic) books, gold and red decor and plenty of “Harry Potter”-themed knick knacks.
The apartment is owned and was designed by “Harry Potter” fan Yue Gao, who has painstakingly collected objects for the apartment himself, some of which belonged to J.K. Rowling herself.
“There is a desk which actually belonged to J.K. Rowling,” Gao told The Metro. “I managed to acquire it as the furniture restorer’s son went to the same school and was in the same class as J.K. Rowling’s daughter.”
“I didn’t want to turn it into a cheap copy of the film, so it’s more like an homage from a huge fan rather than the copy of the movie scene,” he said. “I put my heart into it — it’s my dream realised.”
Along with the gorgeous bedroom, the apartment includes a fully functional kitchen, a smaller bedroom that looks like a carriage from the Hogwarts Express and a living area that is modeled after the Gryffindor common room. Each door in the apartment is painted in honor of each Hogwarts house. Yes, even Slytherin.
To stay in the apartment of any young witch’s or wizard’s dreams, nightly rates are £150 (just over $200 USD) per night. More information on booking a stay can be found on the Canongate Luxury Apartment website.
