Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Took a Secret Vacation With George and Amal Clooney (Video)
Despite the fact that they are four of the most famous people on Earth, everyone somehow missed the fact that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle secretly went on vacation with George and Amal Clooney.
According to the Daily Mail, the royal couple flew to Italy last Thursday to spend a bit of time with their famous friends at George’s private villa on Lake Como. The couple was likely able to stay under the radar thanks to the fact that they reportedly boarded a private flight to and from Italy, departing on Sunday at 6 p.m. from Milan's Malpensa airport.
The only other people who were in the know about their visit were the police, according to local reports, and they mounted quite the effort to keep the royal couple both safe and comfortable.
While visiting Lake Como, Meghan reportedly helped watch after George and Amal’s twins as her husband played a bit of basketball with George.
And on Saturday, Prince Harry and Meghan were the guests of honor at a gala dinner held on the estate. There, about 15 guests reportedly rubbed elbows with the royals all night long.
The villa has most certainly become its own celebrity haven over the years, hosting everyone from Brad Pitt to Matt Damon. Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler were spotted visiting this summer.
Clooney purchased the villa in 2002, though the home was built around 1720. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Clooney bought the property sort of by accident.
“After one of the bikes broke down outside its gates, the owners ushered them in and proceeded to sell Clooney their house for $7.5 million,” The Hollywood Reporter wrote. Clooney now also owns the adjacent property, Villa Margarita. Inside, guests can enjoy the use of a tennis court, roam the landscaped gardens, spread out their things in the massive bathrooms, and even enjoy a slice in the villa’s alleged “pizza room.”
It really should come as no surprise that the royals chose to spend time with George and Amal this summer, and not just for the pizza. After all, George and his lawyer wife were two of the extremely honored guests to attend their royal wedding in May, and their relationship only seems to be blossoming from here.
