Every night, 20,000 bulbs light up the Eiffel Tower, creating the famous evening skyline we all know so well. If you're looking for a romantic Valentine's Day gift, you can now buy a piece of what makes Paris sparkle.
With their time as bright lights of the city over, 450 of these light bulbs have been taken down and crafted into keepsake ornaments called “Diamond Lights.” These authentic flash bulbs have all been removed from the Tower and then attached to a Venetian red, riveted steel base — almost like the iron Gustave Eiffel used to build the tower.
Each light is unique, with different markings and imperfections in the glass, and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
These rare pieces of Parisian history are priced at €540 including tax (about $669 USD without tax). Each ornament comes with a print of Caren Georges engraving “The Eiffel Tower ablaze during the 1889 Universal Expo.”
