The British royal family is looking for the perfect trainee butler to join their expanding staff at Buckingham Palace. In the job description, the palace explains, the new position will work in the Master of the Household’s Department, which “handles everything involved in the official and private entertaining across all the Royal residences.”
The palace promises to help you “become an all-round hospitality expert. Learning from our experienced team and industry recognised training, you'll provide a hospitality service to an extraordinary level, both front-of-house and behind-the-scenes.”
A Royal Butler takes care of every need of guests of the palace as soon as they step through the door. The trainee will also learn how to throw the perfect royal party, from baby shower to wedding, official lunches to state banquets, and everything in between.
“The basics need to be right,” the job description notes. “And so you'll learn all the specialist professional skills needed to make sure presentation and delivery is always perfect.”
And hey, you’ll also get to live in Buckingham palace, so that’s cool.
According to Buckingham Palace, the position will come with a competitive salary and package that includes 15 percent employer contribution pension scheme plus benefits. This is a full-time, live-in position with meals provided, and a 33-day vacation package.
As for what Buckingham is looking for, you don’t need to have previous experience, but you do need to be a proactive person ready to tackle new challenges.
Additionally, you absolutely must be “punctual and able to follow instruction, as well as being helpful and willing to lend a hand,” and “you'll need to be polite, friendly and approachable, and able to communicate with all kinds of people.”
