Of all the people in the world, who would you want to sit down and have a beer with? If you answered Betty White, you’re not alone.

As part of National Beer Day (April 7, mark your calendars for next year), beer industry trade group the Beer Institute polled 1,159 Americans of drinking age on who they’d like to enjoy a cold one with. Actress Betty White came out on top.

According to Food&Wine, White was the most selected candidate from the list of “contemporary celebrities,” taking 19 percent of the vote. And her competition was pretty stiff: Bill Gates, Denzel Washington, Oprah Winfrey, Lady Gaga, Alex Trebek, Bruce Springsteen, LeBron James, J.K. Rowling, Beyoncé, Serena Williams, and Kim Kardashian were all on the list.

“America has spoken, and they’ve said ‘thank you for being a friend’ to Golden Girl Betty White by selecting her as a celebrity they would want to sit down with over a beer,” Jim McGreevy, President and CEO of the Beer Institute, said in a statement. “Beer brings people together, and on this National Beer Day we toast Betty White, who has entertained multiple generations of Americans with her impeccable comedic timing and enduring charm.”

Beyond living celebrities, Food&Wine explained, the poll also asked who people would want to share a beer with from a notable list of “any of the following notable people from history.”

Martin Luther King, Jr. won that survey with 21 percent of the vote. Other choices included Albert Einstein, Marilyn Monroe, Johnny Cash, Mark Twain, Steve Jobs, Muhammad Ali, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Babe Ruth, Eleanor Roosevelt, Aretha Franklin, and Ernest Hemingway.

Of course, Betty White will never be on the list of notable people from history — because she will live forever.
