While the rest of the world was busy joyously celebrating the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Anthony Bourdain was busy raining on all of our parades.

On Saturday morning, the famed chef and television host woke up early to tweet, “I’m all for love, but if you are attending the royal wedding, I kind of automatically don’t like you.”

Perhaps it’s because Bourdain ate something bad last night, or because he was mad at not being invited, but somehow we don’t truly believe he feels this way about the royal wedding.

After all, why would he wake up like the rest of us to watch Harry and Meghan say their vows?

Bourdain’s first tweet garnered thousands of comments and replies, with most of his fans calling him out for being in a bad mood.

In a second tweet, Bourdain clarified by adding, “Yeah yeah yeah, I know. I’m a crank. But the word “royals” just ...will never go down easy. Only person I ever felt comfortable referring to as “Prince” came from Minneapolis.”

Fans appeared to like that response a bit better, with many agreeing that the only true royal was indeed the Artist Formerly Known as Prince.

So there you have it, Anthony Bourdain, man of the people, may say he doesn’t love the royal wedding, but we’d place bets he’s got his television tuned in just like the rest of us. Who knows, maybe their royal vows will make Bourdain shed one single, but very, very salty, tear.
