Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the goodest of them all?
Every year, the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show brings animal lovers together to appreciate some of best behaved and groomed pets around, and this year's 142nd annual show is no different.
Leading up to the show, the Westminster Masters Agility Championship was on Saturday, Feb. 10, with a Border Collie fittingly named Fame taking home the trophy. Mixed-breed canines – referred to as All American dogs – compete in this event as well.
If you’re a dog lover, you know all dogs are perfect in their own ways, but the Westminster Dog Show has its own system of ranking the pups. First, dogs compete against members of their own breed, broken down into seven groups: Sporting, Hound, Working, Terrier, Toy, Non-Sporting, and Herding.
The winning dog in each group will advance to the Best in Show competition, a prestigious title one dog will earn at the end of the events on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 11 p.m. EST.
Last year, a German Shepherd named Rumor won Best in Show.
A complete schedule of events is available on The Westminster Kennel Club’s website. To watch the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, you can livestream the events via Fox Sports Go, and the Best in Show competition will also air live on FS1.
