Albergo Terminus
This early 1900s, family-owned villa hotel opened in 1994 with 36 romantic, one-of-a-kind rooms, featuring Art Nouveau–style furnishings and floral fabrics by local silk producer Ratti. In 2007, 14 additional rooms and suites added a contemporary edge—allowing guests to opt, instead, for sleek, streamlined furnishings (white leather headboards; linens and drapes by Rubelli in cream and neutrals). The modern aesthetic has proved to be quite a draw: these days, the hotel is popular with singers, sports personalities, and White House delegates. Be sure to ask for one of the 24 rooms with lake views.
