Two hours southwest of London, this studio is owned by art instructor Nicholas Beer, who teaches his students to draw and paint portraits of live models. Inspired by his time spent training in Florence, Beer’s technique involves standing further away from the canvass and focusing on the whole rather than the smaller details of the subject. The studio is a large, open workshop with hardwood floors and tall windows, which admit plenty of natural light into the space. Courses vary in length from 1—10 weeks and include a class book that explains Beer’s artistic process. Materials are not provided.
