Longrain Restaurant & Bar
Housed within a sprawling converted warehouse that is more than a century old, this Surry Hills restaurant specializes in contemporary Asian cuisine. The space consists of two main dining areas: one with large, wooden communal tables and another with booths and round tables. A woven wood-paneled wall displays art and photography by well-known Australian artists like Christopher Hodges. Chef Martin Boetz has created a menu of Thai- and Chinese-influenced dishes, from slow-cooked lamb shoulder to steamed Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce. Dessert includes taro and coconut pudding with roasted peanut ice cream. A basement cocktail lounge serves assorted specialty drinks.
