Travel to St. Kitts and Nevis can be a tropical adventure for any vacationer. They are a pair of tropical islands located just to the west of Puerto Rico. Throughout their history, the two islands have changed hands between the English and the French a number of times, but ultimately, in 1967, became an associate state of the United Kingdom. It later gained its full independence in 1983.
Things Not to Miss in St. Kitts and Nevis
• Get a change of perspective during your St. Kitts and Nevis travel and check out the islands from the water with sailboat or fishing charter.
• Take a long walk down Upper Round Road, a pathway built between sugar plantations in the 1600s. You’ll get a view of the local scenery, including the old plantations, farms, and some of the amazing wildlife.
• When you visit St. Kitts and Nevis, exploring Brimstone Hill Fortress is a must. The fortress was built in the 1700s and is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
When to Go to St. Kitts and Nevis
When putting together your own St. Kitts and Nevis travel guide, be sure to consider the weather. The islands are, of course, tropical and therefore have constant sea breezes and little seasonal variation. However, the hurricane season runs from May until November, and those unpredictable storms can be problematic if you’re looking to visit St. Kitts and Nevis then.
