Ritz-Carlton–run Penha Longa Hotel & Golf Resort
The palazzo-style buildings of the Penha Longa Hotel and Golf resort overlook the lakes, forests, and mountains of Portugal’s spectacular Sintra region. Shortly after arrival to the main resort house, guests are offered a tour of both the 19th-century Penha Longa Palace and the nearby monastery, which was built in 1355 and now houses the conference rooms. The holistic spa is a short distance from the main resort house, located in the historical complex, offering guests a wide range of therapeutic services. The two golf courses were designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and include views of the sea and mountains; other activities include horseback riding, tennis, and hiking.
