Les Suites Orient Bund Shanghai
In the iconic Shanghai neighborhood known as the Bund, Les Suites Orient is a minimalist escape—a hotel that’s both smaller in scale (just 125 rooms and 43 suites) and infinitely more understated than its flashy neighbors. The result: a seemingly insulated respite from the Bund’s vibrant hustle. Rooms are muted (Art Deco touches here; a modular couch there) and up-to-date—we loved how LCD monitors in the bathroom mirrors display the local time and weather in English. In the dizzying, sometimes disorienting city, we were especially pleased with the all-day coffee, tea, and fruit service at the third-floor Le Lounge and the views of Huangpu River, best seen from oversize windows on the hotel’s eastern side.
