Lonja de Feria
In La Macarena, an authentic, youthful district steps from the cultural center, sits Lonja de Feria, one of Europe’s oldest marketplaces. Dating back to 1719, this thriving market, transforms most afternoons into an ultra-modern industrial food court with artisanal takes on time-honored tapas and other international bites. Visitors pay $4 for tapas and a drink at any of the participating stalls. Try local favorites salmorejo (pureed tomatoes and bread) and Andalusian-style garlic chicken or travel further afield for Spanish stalwarts paella and a weekly rotation of eight varieties of croquetas (fried potato-based rolls).
