Seattle Art Museum
364 days a year, a giant, moving sculpture of a hammering man welcomes you to the Seattle Art Museum (he has Labor Day off). Inside, the main lobby is topped by hanging car sculptures; galleries on the upper floors hold local and international collections, including modern pieces by Jackson Pollock and Andy Warhol. The first Thursday of every month means late hours and free admission, though special exhibits, like the upcoming one on Yves Saint Laurent, may still carry a surcharge. Every few months the museum hosts a Remix party, where the lobby turns into a giant dance floor, with small bars and craft tables set up around the building.
