Since the Mariners’ inaugural game in 1999, their “new” stadium has been a top destination for Major League Baseball fans. The 47,000-capacity, SoDo (south of downtown) stadium offers good-to-great sightlines to the field from all angles. When its dome is open, the stadium also boasts sunset views of Puget Sound, and of the twinkling Seattle skyline. Safeco Field is set in a semi-revitalized warehouse and light-industrial district that now includes artist studios, small offices, shops, and restaurants. Baseball-inspired works by local artists can be seen in various parts of the stadium, including a chandelier made from 1,000 resin baseball bats, located above the home-plate entry way. Make time to visit the onsite Baseball Museum of the Pacific Northwest.
