What could have been forgotten as an industrial wasteland on the north end of Lake Union was turned into a well-loved park in the 1970s. Though some rusting remains of a manufacturing plant still stand and the lake water is too toxic to play in, the park boasts a picture-perfect view across the lake to downtown Seattle that's worth the visit. Kids are drawn instantly to the sundial atop the hill and charming play barn.
