In 1985, Savannah started to develop a mixed-use project spanning four blocks north of its historic downtown neighborhood. The result is City Market, a mixed-use development, which combines offices, retail, restaurants, and entertainment spaces. A large part of it is the Art Center, where around two dozen local artists have galleries and workshops and sell directly to customers. The other shops sell everything from dog accessories to jewelry. The entire project maintains the city’s historic aesthetic wonderfully.
