Chefs Hugh Acheson (of Top Chef Masters fame) and Kyle Jacavino combine Italian and Southern food at the Florence. Regional ingredients and Continental techniques work together seamlessly in the wonderful chestnut pappardelle, decadent short ribs, and hearty fisherman’s stew. There’s a near-irresistible prix fixe menu with wine pairings and a Sunday brunch that has to be the best value in town. It’s a little out of the way—it’s not located in the historic quarter, as most restaurants are—but it’s well worth the extra effort to get there.
