Cotton Sail Hotel
This late-19th-century former cotton warehouse overlooking the Savannah River is one of the most noteworthy survivors of the city’s shipping past. Now a 56-room hotel, there are historic remnants, including heart-pine floors that were the original building’s roof. Many of the rooms have expansive river views—you may see container ships gliding past. The Cotton Sail is home to one of the city’s few rooftop bars—the Top Deck—which has a fantastic vantage point of both the river and the historic downtown district. The Top Deck bar, one of the city’s few rooftop drinking spots, has panoramic views of both the river and downtown. There’s a small lobby store and fitness center, but the riverside location and nods to Savannah’s history are the main draws.
