California modern cuisine reigns supreme at George’s at the Cove, one of San Diego's preeminent restaurants for fine dining, excellent seafood, and coastal views. There's an a la carte menu in the first-floor fine-dining restaurant, but where George's really shines is with the eight-course chef's tasting menu. On the second floor, it's all about the cocktails, something this venerable locale takes seriously. Try the California Caipirinha, made with Ypióca Cachaca, Bacardi Limón, basil, lemon and lime, ginger ale, and cracked pepper; or the Signature Bloody Mary, with house-infused pepper vodka, Zing Zang Bloody Mary mix, and celery salt. The top-floor Ocean Terrace is much more casual—it's great for outdoor dining and has the best sunset views in town.
