At Hotel Aleph in central Rome, renowned American architect Adam D. Tihany takes on the role of Dante’s Virgil leading his guests through heaven and hell, each represented by a boudoir-style interior of reds, blacks, metal, and crystal. In a twist, heaven is found below in the downstairs spa which includes Turkish and Swedish baths, saunas, and an indoor pool.  Hell is evoked in the 96 rooms that draw on ’30’s and ’40’s Italian design with Murano chandeliers, hangers shaped like devil horns, and wall-size photographs of the city. The hotel also contains two restaurants, including the rooftop 7 Heaven.
