Mr. Cecil's California Ribs
Established by movie producer turned barbecue master Jonathan Burrows, Mr. Cecil’s California Ribs has a Sherman Oaks branch on Ventura Boulevard. Patrons can sit outside on the front patio or cross through the wrought-iron door into the largely unadorned dining room filled with the aromas of slow-cooked barbecue. The ribs are a fusion of western American barbecue, Asian influences, and fresh California organics, and diners often forego the sauces because of the tenderness and flavorfulness. Traditional sides include grilled corn, baked beans, and hush puppies dipped in butter and honey.
