Roger-Van den Hende Botanical Garden
Located inside Laval University, the city's main institution for post-secondary education, the Roger-Van den Hende Botanical Garden is free for all visitors (although a $2 donation is suggested). The gardens first opened in 1978 and continue to be a bastion of botanical care and innovation. If you'd prefer to do more than meander through, guided tours are offered for groups of 10 and up, at $5 per person. The newest addition, the garden of edible bloom, is, as the name suggests, a whimsical showcase of flowers both beautiful and palatable. There are nearly 4,000 species growing in the six-hectare space, ranging from local plants to verdant families from as far as Europe and Asia.
