Quebec City is one of the last remaining fortified cities in North America—it was developed between 1608 and 1871—and you can take a guided tour to discover three centuries worth of Canadian history. Rich in beauty and intrigue, it is these walls that helped Quebec gain its UNESCO World Heritage city distinction. Throughout July and August, musket demonstrations are held every day at Artillery Park on rue d'Auteuill, firing replicas of machinery used in 1755. Beginning on Dufferin Terrace, weave through the 4.6 kilometers of military history on one of the guided tours (lasting about an hour and a half) or at your own pace.
