One of the most beloved local places, Mr. Grouper’s is an island go-to for fresh, delicious seafood. Starters here include conch fritters, jerk shrimp, and their award-winning conch chowder (the trophy is displayed prominently on the bar). Entrees—which include two sides and are a great deal—are seafood-heavy. And the signature item, grouper, is available blackened, grilled, or coconut-crusted. Douse it all with the housemade hot sauce on every table, which comes in large bottles with pickled vegetables. The restaurant, which has a small staff, operates on “island time”—plan to linger here over a few beers or rum cocktails, as the service is not speedy.
