Phipps Conservatory
Pittsburgh’s Phipps Conservatory is charming year-round and an excellent spot to bring the kids to wander through the amazing botanical collections. Opened in 1893, the conservatory was a gift to the city from philanthropist Henry W. Phipps. The ever-changing exhibits of tropical bonsai, desert plants, ferns, orchids, and palms are wonderful eye candy. The botanical gardens also serve as a backdrop to the occasional open garden party. Check out the adult and children’s educational programs on topics like gardening and green and healthy living.
