Pamela's is an iconic Pittsburgh breakfast staple. The original Squirrel Hill location opened in 1980 and they've since added five more in Oakland, Shadyside, the Strip District, Mt. Lebanon, and Millvale. While they serve all of the standard diner fare, you must order the hotcakes. They're fluffy, perfectly buttery, and prepared crêpe-style with crisped edges. A side of their just-as-famous lyonnaise potatoes is also an excellent idea. On weekends, beat the line out the door—and sometimes all the way down the block—by arriving before 10:00 a.m. or after the rush clears around 1:30 p.m.
