Sparrows Lodge was built in 1952 by actor Don Castle and his wife Zetta as a desert retreat far removed from the Hollywood hustle. The property, located in South Palm Springs, was updated and restored in 2013 into a contemporary yet rustic lodge. Outside, you'll find a firepit, vegetable garden, and pool. The 20 comfortable rooms feature concrete floors with inlaid pebbles, rain showers, and horse-trough-style bathtubs. There are no phones or televisions, allowing guests to truly escape. The Barn Kitchen serves a hearty, simple breakfast, as well as family-style meals (Wednesday is a chicken special, and Saturday is always steak). You can borrow a bike from the hotel to explore the city at your own pace.
