The 161-room Hotel Carlton puts a strong emphasis on green technology and community involvement. This lower Nob Hill hotel supports much of its energy needs with 105 solar panels on the roof and sanitizes with natural cleaning products. The approach has won it several awards including LEED-gold certification; parent company Joie de Vivre also donates to local organizations. Guestrooms are decorated in light blues and creams with saffron and persimmon accents. The Carlton has no adjoining buildings, so the majority of rooms offer an unobstructed view of the city.
