Sfoglia, New York
This Old World trattoria, with its rustic wood floor, marble-topped bar, antique wooden tables, fancy chandeliers, textured walls, and wine bottle-lined shelves, seems a world (and a few decades) removed from its East 90 address, which puts it in thick of one of Manhattan's most affluent neighborhoods. For an authentic Italian dining experience, allow the Sfoglia staff to recommend a selection from each menu section – antipasti, primi, secondi, and contorni. While the fare changes bi-monthly in order to capitalize on the availablity of seasonal products, menu highlights include naturally-raised chicken al mattone, fresh Long Island fish, and Calabrian chile clams. Finish with the homemade bread pudding or the blueberry/blackberry tart.
