Foodie magnet, Notable chef, Good breakfast spot

French pâtissier Dominque Ansel—who gained international fame after inventing the now oft-imitated “cronut”—opened this location, his second in New York City, in 2015. While we certainly recommend paying a visit to his bakery in SoHo for treats like frozen s’mores and chocolate chip cookie shots, this small West Village café serves up innovative cuisine, like foie-gras potpie, which is only served during winter (the menu rotates frequently). You can eat breakfast, or lunch, on the outdoor patio when it’s warm: don’t miss the burrata soft serve with a balsamic caramel glaze—an absolute game changer in the ice cream arena.
