Features
Quirky/offbeat, Popular with locals

Although technically this is a music venue—and operates as such, with two or three concerts daily—it belongs with museums because it was founded in 1961 to preserve one of the region's most beloved art forms: Traditional New Orleans Jazz. The crumbling walls where jazz aficionados and tourists line up daily house a true city treasure, and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band (with their unending roster of visiting musicians) are like a living, breathing, evolving exhibit of local jazz music. Check the schedule and line-up with a cocktail around 30 minutes before the show. You won't be disappointed.
