National World War II Museum
Originally opened to celebrate the work of local shipbuilder Andrew Higgins (his boats played a major role in the D-Day landings), this huge facility now honors all veterans of World War II, and has tripled in size in recent years. Artifacts include boats, tanks, and the planes used in the conflict. The immersive, sensory exhibits employ state-of-the-art technology to recreate wartime experiences, and the museum's theater is truly impressive, with its '4D' movie using incredible CGI animation. The wartime theme even stretches into the musical performances that the museum curates as well as its canteen, the American Sector.
