Café Adelaide & The Swizzle Stick Bar
The sister restaurant to Commander’s Palace, this Creole café and cocktail bar is named for the now-deceased bon vivant Adelaide Brennan. Located in the Loews Hotel bordering the arts district, the restaurant is adorned with vibrant contemporary artwork and crystal light fixtures. Chef Chris Lusk, winner of the 2010 Louisiana Seafood Cook-off, incorporates unexpected ingredients into traditional dishes, such as the shrimp and grits featuring grilled oregano red grits and an absinthe-basil beurre vert (green butter). At the Swizzle Stick, acclaimed bartender Lu Brow mixes old-fashioned sidecars as well as a rum-based house cocktail made with a secret ingredient.
