French 75 Bar
Some of the country's most notable bartenders are at work here in New Orleans. You just have to know where to go to find them. Chris Hannah has made this bar a must for cocktail aficionados, named for its most famous creation, a champagne and gin (or brandy) blend that you really must order. The ornate former cigar bar isn't smoky anymore, but the sophistication remains, with uniformed servers and a refined atmosphere of pre-dinner drinks (it's part of Arnaud's Restaurant). Insider tip: order the soufflé potatoes as a bar snack, and while you wait, take your cocktail up to the small but impressive Mardi Gras Museum.
