Sun and sand lovers have their pick of public beaches on Nantucket—but the different shorelines offer very distinct experiences. Running along the southwest edge of Nantucket Island at the end of Bartlett Farm Road, this secluded beach is known as a place to go to escape from the crowds. Since Ladies Beach is all about taking in the rugged, natural beauty, don't expect modern facilities or a lifeguard. Parking isn't abundant, so consider carpooling. Don't forget to pack the leash if the family dog is coming along, and be prepared for heavy waves.
