Founded as a one-day event at the Florida International University in 1997, the South Beach Wine & Food Festival has since morphed into a five-day culinary extravaganza. Each year, notable chefs from around the world descend upon the city to demonstrate their skills, discuss their craft, sample the creations of their colleagues, and, of course, eat. But the event is far from just an exercise in gluttony. Since the festival's founding, it's raised more than $22 million for FIU's Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management.
