Occupying a cluster of four stately Georgian houses, The Merrion embodies the classical glamour of the 18th century, with a subtly modern twist. There are all the period details you’d expect—intricate crown molding, damask upholstery, gilded antique furniture—put together in a way that’s warm and welcoming. In the drawing rooms, you’ll always find someone in front of the fire, with a newspaper and cup of tea in hand. The rooms around the gardens have a cleaner, contemporary look, while those in the main building rely on a more traditional aesthetic. The colonnaded infinity pool in the Tethra Spa is one of the finest in the city, and the two-Michelin-starred Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud is downstairs.
