T. Komoda Store & Bakery
Since 1916, the Komoda family has taken the flavors of Upcountry Maui — like guava and coconut — and rolled them into handmade pastries. The bakery displays an old-fashioned glass case filled with 30 different confections, like their signature cream puffs, donuts-on-a-stick, and malasadas, a Portuguese dessert made of fried dough, tossed in sugar and filled with custard or fruit. A small grocery section includes sundries, such as newspapers, milk, and canned goods. Arrive early for the best selection (baked goods can sell out within a few hours of the store opening), but there’s often a long line.
