Church of San Antonio de la Florida
In 1798 Francisco José de Goya painted the frescos in the Church of San Antonio de la Florida. The painter was later buried here, his remains moved from a grave in Bordeaux, France. The 1792 church is the third built on the site. In 1928, a replica designed for regular services was erected alongside the 18th-century original. San Antonio, patron saint of seamstresses, is honored during a June 13 festival when girls put sewing pins in the font, place their hands in the water, and then predict their love lives based on how many pins stick in their palms.
