Helios House

Map
8770 W. Olympic Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90035, United States

This eco-friendly gas station from BP at the high-traffic Beverly Hills intersection of Olympic Boulevard and Robertson Boulevard looks like the kind of carport Superman would build in his Fortress of Solitude, with crystal-like angularity in its stainless steel construction. Sustainable materials include solar panels, a plant-lined roof, and recycled glass bathroom tiles. Named after Greek god of the sun, the Helious House is BP's labratory for green strategies. Twin billboards convey the message with mottos like “a little better gas station” and “petal to the metal.”
