Museu Nacional das Coches
Portugal's fairy-tale coach museum used to be located in former royal stables. But it outgrew its location recently, and in 2015 the museum reopened in a massive and modern new space with room for an expanded collection of elaborately adorned 17th- to 19th-century coaches. The jury remains hung on the whitewashed monolith space, but few disagree on the elaborate and ornate beauty of its collection, a 70-deep assembly of intricately jeweled wagons of wonder.
