U.K.-based architect Amanda Levete has revitalized Lisbon's once-neglected waterfront with this arching low-rise museum. Its exterior has shimmering reflective scales that toy with perceptions of water and light. Expansive gardens by Lebanese landscape architect Vladimir Djurovic will eventually connect with the existing structure, an arresting red-bricked, Industrial Age power station built in 1900.
