Kiawah Island has a rich history that dates from the 17th century, when the island was sold to the English by the local Native Americans. Located on the Atlantic Ocean just off South Carolina’s coast, Kiawah Island travel is most famous for its fantastic, world-renowned golf courses. There are several award-winning courses on the island, making it the perfect destination for golf lovers. When you’re not on the courses, though, if you visit Kiawah Island, you will enjoy some of Carolina’s best white sand beaches, plus bike trails and coastal hikes.
Things Not to Miss on Kiawah Island
• Schedule a tee time on the Ocean Course, one of the best golf courses in the world.
• Book a Kiawah Island travel guide for a charter sea fishing trip or an outdoor adventure, like paddle-boarding lessons.
• There’s a small fee to enter Beachwalker County Park, but the park offers one of the most attractive beaches for a day of relaxing.
• Night Heron Park offers incredible nature views, like gator watching.
When to Go to Kiawah Island
Due to its weather, the late spring and fall are the best times to travel to Kiawah Island. If crowds aren’t your thing, visit on the outer edges of those months, since the tourist-heavy season is from April to October. Of course, with mild winters, and hot and humid summers, the island can still be relaxing and quite enjoyable outside of those crowded periods.
